Oxbow is a registered charity dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage in the UK by providing grants that directly assist the most needy in society. We work under an ethos of compassion, humility and discretion. All grants awarded by Oxbow have to be proposed jointly by a Compass and a Channel and then approved by Oxbow’s Executive Committee.
Oxbow allows its donors the opportunity to take a hands on role in determining how their donations are dispensed via Oxbow grants. The organisation operates by joining together two networks of people referred to in Oxbow terminology as “Compasses” and “Channels”:
Under its constitution, Oxbow is only able to approve grants sourced from its Compass network. Therefore, Oxbow cannot consider direct grant applications made by individuals or organisations.
